Publishing

Craig started Missouri Breaks Press, our first publishing imprint, in 2010. We will now be independently publishing
some of our work through the Lancarello Enterprises imprint.

THE SUMMER SON
Craig's second novel, a Utah Book Awards fiction finalist in 2011, was originally published by Lake Union Publishing of Seattle. In 2017, Craig had the rights reverted and released a new edition in hardcover, paperback, and e-book editions. Booklist praised the book upon its original 2011 release, calling it "a classic western tale of rough lives and gruff, dangerous men, of innocence betrayed and long, stumbling journeys to love."

THE ART OF DEPARTURE
Craig's collection of short stories, originally titled Quantum Physics and the Art of Departure, was a gold medalist in the Independent Publisher Book Awards and a finalist in the High Plains Book Awards. Craig Johnson, author of the acclaimed Longmire series of books, likened the stories to "close and discovered treasures." Electronic versions are now available for FREE at Craig's author site by signing up for his mailing list.

EDWARD UNSPOOLED
The third and most recent installment in Craig's acclaimed Edward Stanton series of books. (The first two, 600 Hours of Edward and Edward Adrift, have been international bestsellers.) In this book, Edward navigates impending fatherhood through a series of letters to his unborn child, another portal into his unique and compelling mind. Edward Unspooled was the overall winner in general fiction in the 2017 Best Book Awards and was a finalist in the 2017 International Book Awards.

JULEP STREET
Craig's most recent novel leaves the Montana of his previous fiction and alights in Kentucky, where a small-town newspaper editor is confronting the sudden end of his career and identity when a new owner of his paper abruptly closes it. The editor, Carson McCullough, sets out on a weeklong road trip with his ancient dog, Hector, confronting both his past and his uncertain future in episodes that are, by turns, comedic and harrowing. Julep Street was a literary fiction finalist in the 2017 Best Book Awards.

THE WRITER'S HABIT
With the subtitle of "Combining Knowledge, Skill, and Desire to Write the Best Novel You Can," this source book is the distillation of Elisa's best writing lessons from her career as a college instructor. By taking a rhetorical approach, rather than the more common literary approach, Elisa breaks down a different way of writing compelling fiction. It's a writing course, yes, but it's also a collection of practices and experiences, both from Elisa's career as a bestselling novelist and from other successful writers.

LOVE, WYLIE
Springing from Elisa's bestselling Faking It series, this young-adult book is told from the viewpoint of precocious, hilarious Wylie Jean Baker, who is navigating high school (she's a sophomore), the shifting definitions of family (she's recently met her biological father), the vagaries of friendship (she's in a roiling dispute with nemesis Christina), and the first pangs of love (in the form of a senior, Clark Anderson, who takes a liking to her). You won't be able to help yourself from falling in love with Wylie.

FAKED OUT
Elisa's debut novel, Faking It, was a worldwide hit. Now comes the other side of the story. Following the same timeline as Faking It, we now see the story of the writing instructor and the male escort from Devin's point of view—his life full of material and human pleasure, but also an aching distance from his dying father, his yearning to break away from his career as an escort, and his growing, unspoken love for Andi.
